VI COMMANDO

Prt. Rolf Dreng

Rolf Dreng was born in Tjølling (a small town east of Larvik, Norway) on 31st October 1915.

Rolf Dreng escaped to England by ship on 17th May 1940, shortly after Nazi Germany had invaded Norway as part of its operation: Weserübung on 9th April 1940. On arrival in England he joined the Royal Norwegian Army in exile.  But, after eleven months hard training, he volunteered for service with the Norwegian Independent Company No.1, the so-called Linge Company (Kompani Linge), and soon distinguished himself in fieldcraft and riflework - being an excellent shot.
