Prt. Sam “Jock” Wilson, formerly of the Black Watch (Royal Highlanders), served with No.6 Commando from, at least, 5th June 1944.

Prt. Sam “Jock” Wilson was reported as being Killed In Action (KIA) on 10th June 1944, aged 22 years.

Sam was the son of T. Henry and Annie Wilson, of Morley, Yorkshire, and was laid to rest in Ranville War Cemetry (Calvados, Normandy, France). Grave IVA.L.12.

The inscription on his headstone reads:

‘To Live in heart. To leave behind. Is not to die. The family.’
